For weeks, I kept waking up in the middle of the night with the strange feeling that someone was staring at me. At first, I brushed it off as one of those odd moments that happen when you’re half asleep. But after it happened repeatedly, I started paying closer attention.
Every time I opened my eyes, I saw the same thing.
Our cat was sitting near the bed, completely still, staring directly toward us in the darkness.

Now whenever my husband starts snoring, we joke that our cat is the unofficial nighttime security guard of the house.
And honestly, she takes the job very seriously.
