A school bus carrying students from Pine Ridge Middle School in South Carolina was involved in an accident on Thursday while returning from a field trip.
Authorities said the bus, which was transporting approximately 35 students and two adults, experienced a tire failure while traveling on Interstate 77. The vehicle then overturned amid heavy traffic.
Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene, including five medical helicopters. Several students were transported to nearby hospitals for evaluation and treatment. Officials have not released detailed information on the extent of the injuries.
Aerial footage from the scene showed the bus resting on its side as first responders worked to assist passengers and manage traffic in the area.
The incident remains under investigation, and school officials said they are working closely with families and authorities to provide updates.
