The man’s eyes were kind yet focused as he scanned the room, and then they settled on a young boy in the back, quietly wiping tears from his cheeks. “I’m Alex,” he said softly but with authority. “I’m his uncle, and I’ve come to talk about something important.” His gaze met his nephew’s, and there was a quiet reassurance in it, a silent promise that everything would be explained, that the truth would finally be understood.
